I was hired recently for by a company that creates medical equipment to design a custom logo for them. After a few logo options and a couple of small revisions, logo shown above was the winner. The icon symbolizes energy and movement, while forming the letters "C" and "P" from Pacific Coast. The logo was also created in a way so that the eye flows all throughout, from the icon, through the v, t, and n, as if electricity were traveling through. Thank you PCI! It was a pleasure working with you!

Sound Auto Works, Custom Logo Design
Logo update: Sept. 25, 2009 ~ Thanks for the comments! Well, my brother had a few revisions, which was to make the car more "sporty" and to change the color scheme to blue. The results...much better, as seen below!
Below is the original blog entry from Sept. 16th. The car has improved since, and personally I am very fond of bright colors, orange in particular is my favorite color, so I prefer the color scheme below. But I must admit, the logo also looks good in blue.
9/16/09 ~ Wow, after so many years designing wedding invitations, I didn't know I had it in me to design a logo for an automotive business! I just couldn't say no to my little brother, so I gave it a shot. He's opening an auto shop where he'll be specializing in stereo and alarm installations while his business partner will be specializing in automotive repairs.
I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I just e-mailed it out for proof - hope he likes it!

Desert View Insurance business logo update
Thanks to all of you who voted through Facebook and through the comments feature on my blog. I'm happy to announce that my client selected the same logo that got the most votes. Eight out of nine people voted for this one, and it was also my client's favorite! She just had one minor revision request, which was to raise the outline of the mountains a bit. Great suggestion! It gave the logo a more complete look as it now further resembles our beautiful desert skyline.

Business Logo donation to benefit VBS
Earlier this year my church held a silent auction fundraiser for Vacation Bible Study allowing our kids to attend this four-day program at no charge. This year's theme is "There's a monster under my bed!" teaching kids to shine God's light on their fears. As a mother of a little dare-devil, and an auntie to a shy and fearful nephew, I felt the desire to contribute to this fundraiser to ensure other children like my nephew had the opportunity to attend.
I donated a logo and business card design, which was won by Desert View Insurance. We're in the first stage of the design process and the first three logo options shown below are out for proof right now.
Which one do you like best?

Dan and Dorian's Wedding Logo
Dan and Dorian contacted me last summer requesting an invitation design for their vows renewal which would take place in the fall at the Mission Inn, Riverside.
Their invitations featurned a custom designed logo that reflected their style, location and faith.

Below are a couple of images I used as inspiration for the logo.

Their invitations incorporated their color scheme of ivory, brown and gold, and the design consisted of using the logo as a focal point for all pieces.

The final product looks stunning! The invitation has one layer backing in shimmer Bronze card stock, and the text was printed on Diamond shimmer ivory card stock. We used brown ink with a thermography finish, which made the design look very clean, modern and elegant.

New Logo Design: Paisley in Paris™
Introducing my latest project and logo design...Paisley In Paris™!I'm so happy with the way the logo turned out! The paisley pattern inside the Eiffel Tower is my original artwork created using oil pastels. I scanned it, then I drew the outline of Eiffel Tower and masked the paisley pattern inside of it.
As a final touch I added a silhouette of my pet Chihuahua, who's name is Paisley. She and my desire to travel one day inspired this new logo and new name for my collection of greeting cards. So it's bye-bye Pepper Kittymonkey™ hello Paisley In Paris™!
Oh, and I should share my new tag-line too! It tells the story behind the name and it's worded in a way that will hopefully bring a chuckle out of you:
"Paisley is my pet Chihuahua. She has never been to Paris. If she had, I'd be jealous!"

Business Cards, Finalizing the Design

Several weeks back I had blogged about a logo and business card design I was creating for for Tom Lang, a wedding minister servicing the Greater Chicago and Greater Palm Springs areas.
As we finalize everything, the color has changed and so has the layout, creating a cleaner and more modern effect!
The same happens with invitations. Many times during the design process, clients call or e-mail feeling terrible about last minute color changes or things of that sort.
As long as we're in the design process, fonts, layouts and colors can always be changed to reflect the direction the entire event design is heading in. The nice thing about it is that things usually work out for the best!

Tom Lang, Logo & Business Card Redesign
Just wanted to share a couple of logo and business card design options that I have out for proof right now.
Option 1:
Combines elegance with a modern touch. The "G" in "wedding" is made up of two wedding rings. The cover of the card is kept clean, while the back side includes all the contact information.

Option 2:
I feel the logo has a bit more of a feminine touch, so I neutralized it with shades of brown. Has more of a vintage flair with a modern touch.
Please feel free to vote - post a comment and let us know which one you like most!

Daisy and Leo's Wedding Logo
I met with Daisy and Leo a few days back and they mentioned they wanted some kind of monogram or logo incorporated into the design of their invitations. They didn't want anything with their last name, though, and they felt that the D and L were too difficult to work with. I agree, those two letters don't seem to compliment each other when placed side by side, so instead of a monogram I designed a wedding logo for them.I was able to combine a lower case D and upper case L. I was concerned that people wouldn't see it, so I placed their names underneath the icon to allow people to make the connection. Since the L is upper case, I created an abstract of a daisy to give her a bit more of a stronger presence in the logo. As a finishing touch, I added the wedding date, and there you have it! Another mission accomplished, and another happy client. =)

New Look for Ron Brewer Photography
I met Debi and her late husband Ron Brewer a couple of years ago at one of the Greater Palm Springs Association mixers. They were a husband and wife photography team, very loved in the community and by their clients. After Ron's passing last year, Debi continues to keep the name and the business alive with her talent and passion for her trade. She called me few weeks back, with a few ideas for a new logo and a beautiful new brown and aqua color scheme, which will better reflect her classic photography style.
I am so thrilled to have been given this opportunity! Now she's going to run with it, and create a new website, business cards, and packaging! I can't wait to see it all the pieces come together!
Ron Brewer Photography is based in La Quinta, California. Serving all the desert cities. Family portraits, childrena and wedding photography.

Dio Selina Custom Designs - New Look!
Yes, Dio Selina Custom Designs has a new look! As a graphic designer, it has been unbelievably difficult for me to settle on a look and colors for my business identity. I just love color and design a little too much, and as I continue grow creatively and establish myself in the wedding industry, I feel need to "polish up" on my look to fit these changes. My new website is up and running. I still have to change my stationery (business cards, letterhead, e-mail signature) but I thought I'd give everyone a heads up in case you see me using the old logo, then the new logo, then back to the old one in the next couple of days as I complete the transition.

Wedding Logos - The Latest Trend!

Image above illustrates how you can create your own thank you cards with a little help from a professionally designed wedding logo.
Wedding logos, perhaps unheard of a few decades ago - today they are the hottest wedding day trend!
The beauty of a wedding logo, is that not only does it symbolize the union of two people in love, but it can truly communicate who you are, based on it's design. Trendy, elegant, classic, playful...whatever your characteristics may be, you will for sure be drawn to a logo that expresses the same characteristics that describe you.
As a stationery designer, what I like about wedding logos is that it gives everyone an opportunity to have customized invitations, even with a modest budget.
All you have to do is purchase your logo and run with it! Use it to build your own invitations, thank you cards, etc.
I've illustrated above just how easy it would be to create your own thank you cards. But don't stop there! Use it to unify every aspect of your wedding, from your wedding stationery, to your wedding cake, party favors, etc. - engrave it on your groom's tie, if he let's you! The possibilities are truly endless.
For pricing information on wedding logos, please vising my web site at DioSelina.com.

Wedding Logos
Can't afford fully customized wedding invitations? Want to design your own, but don't want them to look home-made? Or do you simply want to take your invitation design to a higher level? If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, perhaps a wedding logo would be the solution you are looking for.
A wedding logo can help you carry a certain look, or feel, throughout your wedding. The logo can be used to label a variety of items, such as: invitations, thank you cards, wedding programs, bogos, wedding website, video production, napkins, coasters, party favors, gift tags, gift enclosures, wedding cake, towels, glassware, and aisle runner - to name a few!
The total cost depends on whether you'd like for us to develop a brand new design for your event, or if you choose to adapt an existing logo from our site. For more information, or to view existing wedding logo selections, please visit the Logos page on my website. New images will be posted soon, so don't forget to check back with us in the next couple of weeks!

Photography
Prior to starting my own business, I held a position as senior graphic designer in the Spa Resort Casino's marketing department for over half a decade. We were always in need of new images to include in menus, collateral announcing upcoming slot/poker tournaments, nightly entertainment, etc. Since purchasing stock photography was always a pain, and photo shoots were not easy to organize and execute, we used the same images over and over again. We'd angle them in one direction, then another, change them to black and white, sepia, crop them in a circular shape, then square, rectangle....we used a variety of techniques to make the same pictures look like new ones. But you know, it worked! It was there that I gained an interest in photography, and started paying special attention angles, color, and shooting styles. When it was time to plan my wedding, I knew that photography was the one thing I would reserve a decent budget for.
Now that I'm in the wedding industry, I catch myself browsing through various photographer's web sites a couple times a week, in search for inspiration. One of my favorite web sites to visit is Red Lantern Photography, a husband and wife wedding photography team based out of La Quinta, California. I met Donna and Nader (photographers) at a Greater Palm Springs Wedding Association mixer about a year or so ago. They have the friendliest and most pleasant personalities, and I am a big fan of their work. I have also designed for a few a of their past clients, who have nothing but great things to say about them. They are definitely the one's I'll call if we ever renew our vows!I actually had the pleasure to work with them early this year, when they hired me to design a logo, stationery, and a mailer announcing their business name change (formerly Photography by Nader Coobtee). It was their input, creative eye, positive feedback and suggestions that allowed my initial sketches of the logo to evolve into what it is now. But rather than writing about it, I invite you to visit their blog where you can see more of their work, and a few more images of the mailer I designed for them.
Enjoy!
