Homemade Easter Egg Dye

I'm a little late with my Easter posting, but I must be grateful for the work I have, even if it has kept me from blogging. =)

This past Easter, both my sister and I waited till the last minute to plan our Easter gathering. By the time we got the store to buy some goodies, we found ourselves surrounded by empty shelves. Our only solution was to make homemade egg dye for the kids, and we couldn't have been happier with the results!

To make it, we just mixed the following ingredients in a cup:
1 cup of water
1 teaspoon of white vinegar
1 teaspoon of food coloring

First we used regular crayons to draw our designs on the eggs and then dipped them in the dye to finish the job. They turned out sooo cute! My favorite is the intergalactic egg my sister created, shown at the bottom left. I almost snagged it from her for my husband!

We then took the kids to gramma Josefina's house, hid the eggs and candy and had another evening filled with family, candy and fun. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter as well. If you experienced any egg dye disasters, keep this recipe in mind for next year. You'll love it!

Color Inspiration # 3

This week's color inspiration comes from a photo image by Life Love Paper (found via Simply Hue). I typically don't think of pink as a holiday color, but after being awed by such beautiful blend of complimentary colors which lifted my holiday spirit, I found myself inspired and eager to share.

Free printable December Calendar

I'm a little late posting my design for this month's printable calendar thanks to a computer virus which set me back a few days. Luckily, I was able to back up all my files before taking my computer to be restored. Now it's just a matter of getting caught up and back on schedule. Oh, wait a minute...now that the calendar is posted, I guess I am all caught up! Yay!

Enjoy the calendar! May it be filled with notes and highlighted dates indicating your many celebrations this joyous holiday season.

Pumpkin Pie Bites

Found these fun little pumpkin pie bites via Bakerella. Aren't they adorable? Some things are just too cute to eat! I love pumpkin pie. I've never made it from scratch, I may add, but these little mini pies have tempted me to give it a try in the coming weeks. I'm sure my daughter would enjoy helping mommy decorate them. ~ For more images and full recipe, click here.

Custom Halloween Postage

Halloween had never been so much fun until now that I have a daughter. I love our family time spent at the Pumpkin Patch, carving our pumpkins, planning our costumes and trick-or-treating. We have dressed up and taken my daughter out trick-or-treating since she was only 6 months, so it's like a family tradition now. We may not always be able to spend Christmas or New Year's Eve together (hubby usually has to work) but we have a blast on Halloween!

Last year, my husband, daughter and myself dressed up as lady bugs! Yes, somehow we were able to convince my husband...his only request was that we called him "Lady-Man". Tee-hee.

Despite the scorching summer heat outside (106 degrees) at this time, I am already celebrating in spirit with my new Halloween postage designs available through my zazzle gallery.

More designs coming soon so stay tuned!

Always an opportunity for creativity

I am having so much fun with the elf theme this year! I ordered elf cards from JibJab.com after creating that cute little video you saw a few blog entries ago. These Elf cards allowed me to include some creative writing as well, reflecting a bit more of my personality and my relationships with the people I'm giving them to.

For example, here's what I wrote on my brother's card (it's okay to share, he doesn't read my blog)...

"My spidey senses tell me you've been on Santa's good list this year. But as you can see, I am CLEARLY an Elf, not Spiderman, so whatever my spidey senses detect can be thrown right out the window!"
Then I signed it with the traditional Merry Christmas, and told him to go Elf himself.

No, I'm not being mean, that's really the name of the elfing program..."Elf Yourself". I included the JibJab web address on his card as well, so he knows where to go to get started.

I know this has nothing to do with weddings, but I do hope that it inspires you to find a way to be creative in everything that you do. Especially when planning your holiday parties and of course your wedding day!

Peace and Joy,

Dio
