Footsie Friday: Christian Louboutin

Just a little eye-candy for the shoe lovers out there. I love the ruffles, and even though it's a high heel the fact that it has no straps gives me the impression that these are some of the most comfortable dress shoes out there. I could be wrong, but isn't that every girl's dream? Stunning heels that never hurt? Yeah, I like that kind of dreams. Happy Friday everyone. Have a great weekend!

Pretty Little Hair Pins

Thinking about letting my hair grow out a bit for my sister's wedding next year. I've had the same cut for the last 3 years, it may be time for a change, but it's so hard because I love my short hair. I feel more stylish (and young) when it's nicely trimmed and styled.
If I do let it grow out a bit, I know I'll have more hair style options for her big day and I'll be able to play around with cute little flower hair pins such as these. I know it's not about me, the wedding is about her, but I am one of her bridesmaids and a girl always wants to look nice for pictures, right? Right! In the meantime, the search begins for nice hair styles and hair accessories.

Lovebirds Wedding Cake Topper

If you're having a "lovebirds" wedding theme this spring, you may be interested in taking a look at this beautifully handcrafted wedding cake topper by the very talented Afsaneh Tajvid, the artist behind the Joojooland Etsy shop. While visiting her shop, you will come across the most adorable miniature sculptures, original pieces of handcrafted jewelry and colorful illustrations that would make great gifts for your bridesmaids and flower girls. Her use of color and imagination are always of great inspiration to me.

Something Blue...

Blue is such an easy color to incorporate to any beach wedding, but I had never thought about incorporating the beach into your blue! I think the above hair pins do just that. The unique hair accessories allow you to express your unique stile while providing a subtle touch of blue (turquoise) in your hair.

Handcrafted Hair Accesories

I spent about 6 hours last weekend crafting holiday gifts for my family and friends. Amongst my creations was this beautiful & stylish hair pin. I couldn't decide which one of my sisters to give it to, and I really wanted to keep it for myself! It's so pretty. My little camera doesn't take very good pictures, but when you see it person, the beads sparkle so pretty and the fabric is so soft and silky. Anyway, I have enough fabric to make more of this design, so I thought I'd add this one to my Etsy shop for a lucky customer to enjoy. If you think this would make a great accessory for your bridesmaids, send me a note and let me know how many you'll need. I'd be happy to work on a custom order for you.

Parisian Cupcake Topper Flags

I just added these new cupcake toppers to my Etsy shop. Actually, they're multi-purpose foodpicks. They look great on cupcakes and pastries - ideal for a Paris theme bridal shower! Or if you're having a wine tasting, these would look great on a cheese platter sitting next a bottle of French wine.
The flags are made from Cavallini paper, attached to a toothpick and accented with a small microbead at the top for a very subtle sparkle. They sell in sets in 12, but if you need other quantities just shoot me an e-mail!

Something Blue

As people prepare for the holidays, and brides begin to celebrate their fall and winter weddings, there are other brides-to-be looking to find inspiration for their spring weddings. If you're one of them, this post is for you! One of my finds this afternoon was this lovely genuine Turquouise carved birdie and adjustable chain necklace by FreshyFig. I immediately envisioned it as a lovely and apropriate accent to any outdoor spring wedding attire. Who knows, maybe this post will be the reason why your "Something blue" can now be checked off your list.

Limited Edition Flower Hair Clip - Now on sale!

You know, they say necessity is the mother of invention and I truly believe it's true! I wanted to make my sister's birthday present this year, I know she needs business cards but that would be too easy. Think Dio, think...what can you make that she'll love? I know she loves purses and accessories but I don't have a sewing machine and I am not about to hand-stitch a purse. So I came into my studio and pulled out a variety of materials that inspired me. I was determined to use up the materials I have had on the shelves for years, which brought me to my stash of beads. I have been on a roll crafting and creating so many goodies during the last week, that it's becoming more and more difficult to choose which items I want to give her, which ones I want to keep, and which ones I want to post for sale at my Etsy shop.

This flower hair clip is one of my favorite creations so far! It's also a limited edition. I made it from one of my daughter's lightly worn dresses, after it was washed of course. I think I can get about 10 more flowers out of that dress, but they'll have different color beads in the center. Plus I'm keeping a couple of course, so if you like the one shown above, you may want to stop by my Etsy shop now before someone else snatches it!

Something Old, Something New... Something sparkling blue!

Now how does that old saying go?
Ah, yes...

Something old,
Something new,
Something borrowed,
Something blue
and a sixpence in her shoe!

First of all, you may be wondering what in the world is a sixpence? A sixpence is a coin that was minted in Britain from 1551 to 1967. In this poem, the coin represents wealth for the bride and groom.

Something old represents continuity in the brides family and past. Something new represents her new life ahead. Something borrowed, is usually a token from a happily married friend or relative.

As far as the color blue, centuries ago, it used to represent faithfulness, loyalty and purity. Many brides incorporate blue by using a garter, or using blue nail polish on their toes.

A much more beautiful option, would be these fresh water pearls and sparkling blue topaz drop earrings by James Allen.
