Tyson and Julia...Married

I came across this blog a few weeks back and was immediately drawn to their photography and blog design. I then started reading their posts and thought they were the cutest couple ever! They reminded me what it was like to be a newly wed. I've been married for almost 6 years, and although I still love my husband very much, thinking back to the first years of our marriage always gives me butterflies in my tummy.

I thought it would be nice to share their blog with all you brides out there who wonder what comes after the wedding. Enjoy!

Tip of the Week: Wedding Menus & Place Cards

A good way to prevent your reception tables from looking overly cluttered (and save a bit of money) is to combine your wedding menus and place cards. By personalizing the menus, you can combine the budget for each and create a more breathtaking piece, or you can keep the design more on the simple side and put the savings towards a more stunning center piece, linens, etc.

Daisy and Leo's Wedding Logo

I met with Daisy and Leo a few days back and they mentioned they wanted some kind of monogram or logo incorporated into the design of their invitations. They didn't want anything with their last name, though, and they felt that the D and L were too difficult to work with. I agree, those two letters don't seem to compliment each other when placed side by side, so instead of a monogram I designed a wedding logo for them.

I was able to combine a lower case D and upper case L. I was concerned that people wouldn't see it, so I placed their names underneath the icon to allow people to make the connection. Since the L is upper case, I created an abstract of a daisy to give her a bit more of a stronger presence in the logo. As a finishing touch, I added the wedding date, and there you have it! Another mission accomplished, and another happy client. =)

Flower Girl and Ring Bearer gifts

I found these cute little grass pets at Wrappables.com and thought they would make a cute little gift for little kids and big kids too!

They're called Nyokki Pets. Nyokki means "grow" in Japanese, and that's what these little critters do. You just add a little water and watch the grass grow.

You can cut style their "hair", cut it and watch it grow all over again!

They are hand made in Japan from glazed ceramic, the come with seeds, are egg-shaped and have fabric legs.
They measure 1.75" x 2", come in sets of two, and you can choose from Monkey, Chickee, Froggie, and Piglet.

I fell in love during a Palm Springs Rendezvous

This month's Greater Palm Springs Wedding Association mixer was hosted by Jake Cohen, Manager of a 50's Romantic Bed & Breakfast by the name of Rendezvous.

I completely fell in love with this place! I loved the mid-century modern decor, the staff was very friendly, the location was very easy to find and very, very cozy.

We had a chance to go inside most of their uniquely decorated rooms. My personal favorite was the "Honeymoon Hideaway" followed by the "Elvis Room". All the other rooms where just as beautifully decorated, they all have a two person jacuzzi, dual sinks, flat screen TV's, DVD players - everything you need to ensure a comfortable stay!

Each stay includes a gourmet breakfast and nightly happy hour with blue martinis and appetizers!

They specialize in small weddings of up to 50 people, and they offer different wedding and honeymoon packages.

If you're planning a destitation wedding, I would skip the big chain hotels in a heartbeat and stay at the fabulous Rendezvous, in Palm Springs!

Personally, I know this is where I'll be spending my next staycation!

Lace Wedding Invitations

It's been while that I don't post any images of my recent work, so I thought I'd share my latest design created for a local client here in Palm Springs, California.

Nicole is a modern-day girl with much appreciation for the classic look of the 60's, which is what she based her color scheme on.

Lucky for me, I didn't have to go too far to find the right papers. I just opened my handy dandy Envelopments swatch book and within minutes we found the pearlized pink, antique white, and charcoal grey colored card stocks that matched her fabric swatches perfectly. We were immediately heading in the right direction. During the consultation she also mentioned she was using lace to accent her wedding cake and decorate her tables.

As it turns out, Envelopments released a new set of patterns in 2008, and I found one that added a great focal point to the invitation. I used a pattern called Reggalia. It is pre-printed on antique white shimmer paper. I layered it under the invitation to resemble a unique and beautiful lace pattern.

I then incorporated a touch of the real thing by wrapping the RSPV card and inserts with lace ribbon. This worked out beautifully! I allowed the lace to peek out of the pocket so that it can be seen when looking at the front of the invitation. This little detail tells guests there's more on the back. Once they turn the invitation over, they pull on the lace to easily access the inserts.

I am proud to say that Nicole and Matt where extremely happy with their invitations...and that just puts a huge smile on my face! =D
