Something Old, Something New... Something sparkling blue!

Now how does that old saying go?
Ah, yes...

Something old,
Something new,
Something borrowed,
Something blue
and a sixpence in her shoe!

First of all, you may be wondering what in the world is a sixpence? A sixpence is a coin that was minted in Britain from 1551 to 1967. In this poem, the coin represents wealth for the bride and groom.

Something old represents continuity in the brides family and past. Something new represents her new life ahead. Something borrowed, is usually a token from a happily married friend or relative.

As far as the color blue, centuries ago, it used to represent faithfulness, loyalty and purity. Many brides incorporate blue by using a garter, or using blue nail polish on their toes.

A much more beautiful option, would be these fresh water pearls and sparkling blue topaz drop earrings by James Allen.
